Hood Hive Honey

Local Honey and Honey Products

About

HoodHive Honey began inadvertently in 2019 when Thomas brought a beehive home and declared, “Honey, we have bees!” Using the old adage, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, Kristin jumped in and began learning about beekeeping as well. Both became certified beekeepers via a Penn State program. Honey was given away to family and friends the first year of harvest, then the second year we added providing a fund raiser for our church, but by the third year, we had more honey and by products (wax, pollen, etc), than we knew waht to do with! We began to make products with the beehive byproducts, saw an add for farmers market vendors, and reached out to LEAP. What we thought we would a few Saturday markets in 2023, and afraid no one would buy a thing, has turned into a weekly market. We sell honey, and honey products, including honey soaps, lotion pucks (Heel & Hand Helper), lip balm, foaming hand soap, BeeSlick (cast iron/carbon steel seasoning paste), and CutterKeeper (wooden kitchen utensils and cutting board paste), as well as hot honey (BeeHeat and Cinna-Bee Heat), for which we are VDACS inspected for an infused honey product. We also carry our honey butter on a seasonal basis. Our most sold product after our honey? It’s BeeSlick, hands down, which a market day doesn’t go by that we don’t hear from someone, “great product”, “we love it”, or “you saved my cast iron”. While LEAP is our “home” market, we do participate in multiple other markets each year, and at various times, including the Salem Farmers Market, Stocked Market, Knittin’ Coop Spring Market, just to name a few. While we do not yet have a website, we do mail products and do so from email or DM requests/interactions from our social media pages.
